Metal Equipped industrial socks are designed not only to offer protection against heat, sparks, and molten metal splash, but also to increase comfort at work. We know what it feels like to work 12-hour shifts in closed shoes. Sweating, athlete’s foot and other discomforts is the result of socks made from substandard material! Foot discomfort affects both mental and physical well being.

All the materials in ME Industrial socks comes from Europe. The Wool is German, the viscose is Austrian and the Kermel is French. The product is designed and developed in Iceland and manufactured in Romania.

Our socks meet the highest test performance level according to EU regulations: EN ISO 11612 A3, B3, C2, D3, E1.

Thermal conductivity through the fabric is less than 0.5cal/cm2sec.

ME fabric generates no toxic chemicals and preserves dimensional stability when subjected to extreme heat or flames. It has superior resistance to industrial laundering.

Our Fabrics

Kermel is a polyamide-imide, classified in the meta-aramid family. This very high technological fibre does not melt nor burn when exposed to extreme high temperatures. Its excellent properties make it the ideal choice for heat and flame-resistant textiles.

LENZING™ FR is a sustainably produced inherently flame-resistant cellulosic fiber based on Lenzing’s renowned Modal fiber production process. LENZING™ FR is commonly blended with other high-performance fibers to produce unique protective solutions for a variety of industrial applications.

Wool is naturally flame resistant and offers a greater level of fire safety than other fibres. In addition, wool does not melt, drip or stick to the skin when it burns. Wool’s flame-resistant properties make it an ideal for personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect firemen, military personnel and anyone else exposed to fire or explosives. Wool’s characteristic of only smoldering and not melting or dripping onto skin, can itself be a lifesaver.

Workwear certified in accordance with EN ISO 11612 is made of a material that protects the wearer from exposure to heat and fire.

The EN ISO 11612 standard describes clothing that is manufactured in a material designed to protect the user’s body from heat and/or fire. 

EN ISO 14116 certification describe safety clothing that protects against heat and fire. The EN ISO 14116 standard specifies safety apparel, materials and material compositions with limited flame spread.

Safety clothing certified in accordance withEN ISO 14116 protects the user from short-term, accidental contact with heat or sparks.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS ACCORDING TO EN ISO 11612

To meet the EN ISO 11612 standard, the protective fabric needs to pass at least two
tests: the A test and at least one of the B, C, D or E test. Per test, the performance of
the fabric is tested on:

Test A Flames spread
Test B Convective heat
Test C Radiant heat
Test D/E Molten metal
Test F Contact heat

The test results are classified into ‘performance levels’. Performance level 1 for
example, indicates that the fabric provides the minimum protection to pass the test. If you are responsible for the protective clothing of your company, it is advisable not only to look at if a fabric passed a test, but also to what degree.
